The Temple College Classic concluded on Saturday afternoon, as the Leopards hosted Angelina College in rematch of their game in mid-November.
Temple built a 49-40 lead late before a 14-7 run by the Roadrunners put the Leopards in peril. However, Aminah Dixon's bid to end the game with a three-pointer came up short at the horn, as TC downed Angelina, 56-54.
Angelina (3-7) got off to a quick 10-3 start in the game's 5:09. The Leopards (9-2) clawed back to within three, but trailed at the end of the first quarter, 17-12.
The Leopards bounced back in the second quarter, as they outscored Angelina 17-13 to slice the margin to one point at the hafltime break, 30-29.
Temple took the lead in the third quarter on the first possession, and led by four points, 41-37, as the teams headed into the fourth quarter.
TC opened a nine-point lead mid-way through the final stanza before Dixon helped fuel the final push with 11 points in the quarter.
Angelina got within two points and had a opportunity to tie the game or win it with a three-pointer. Dixon went for the three-point attempt above the key, but the came up short of the goal as the horn sounded.
Temple ended up with just two foul shots in the first half, and went 11-of-17 for the game. The Leopards drilled six three-pointers.
Ranyiah Hunt and Chyna Nixon each scored 13 points for the Leopards.
The Roadrunners went 10-of-18 from the charity stripe and hit just two three-pointers.
Dixon led all scorers with 21 points, which included 6-of-7 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.
The Leopards will host Blinn College on Saturday, Dec. 13 at Kirby Johnson Court.
