The Temple College women's basketball team hosted the Angelina College Roadrunners in the final game of the 2024 Temple Classic on Kirby Johnson Court.
Having recovered from a slow start, the Leopards bounced back to push the Roadrunners to two overtimes and defeated Angelina, 86-80.
The Roadrunners scored the first six points of the game, which forced TC head coach Amber Taylor to call a timeout 68 seconds into the first quarter.
With the Leopards trailing 13-3, Temple finished the final six minutes of the opening period at a 14-4 clip to tie game at 17 all.
Angelina outscored TC 9-4 over the first 5:48 of the second quarter, as they led 26-21.
The Leopards trailed the Roadrunners at the half, 33-31.
Temple scored the first points of the second half to grab their first lead with 8:30 to go in the third quarter.
With the score tied at 46-46 with 3:28 to play in the third stanza, Temple finished the period on a 6-3 stretch and led going into the fourth quarter, 52-47.
The lead was traded back and forth throughout the last ten minutes of regulation. Both team had unsuccessful final attempts in the final seconds, as the Leopards and Roadrunners went to overtime tied at 67.
Both teams scored nine points in the first overtime, with Temple having grabbed a four-point lead and was tied by Angelina in the final moments. Imani McCray's 40-foot heave clanked off the right side of the rim, and TC and Angelina went to the second overtime tied at 76.
The Leopards outscored the Roadrunners 10-4 in the second overtime and held off Angelina for their second win of the Temple Classic.
Temple finished game 15-of-19 from the free-throw line and hit a trio of three-pointers.
TC had five players in double figures, led by Mychie White with 19 points. Biva Byrd added 17, Gaby Edo chipped in 14, and Jaylice Rosario and Imani McCray poured in 11.
Angelina converted 19-of-32 free-throws and hit two three-pointers.
India McMahon led all scorers with 26 points, on 10-of-13 shooting from the charity stripe. Alannah Nerocker added 15 points for the Roadrunners.
The Leopards will have a break until Jan. 2, as they will take on Western Texas College on Kirby Johnson Court.
