In a North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference softball doubleheader with playoff ramifications involved, No. 4 Temple College hits the road to take on No. 20 Weatherford College Wednesday afternoon.
The first game at Weatherford is slated for 1 pm, with game two to start 30 minutes after.
In 2024, Temple took three of four from the Coyotes. The Leopards won 4-3 in eight innings and 6-3 at the Danny Scott Sports Complex. The teams split in Weatherford, with the Leopards taking the opener, 6-3, and Coyotes winning the second game, 7-6.
TC won three of four games against McLennan to take a two-game lead with eight games to play. The Leopards split at Bosque River Ballpark, having dropped game one, 6-4, and outlasted the Highlanders in game two in eight innings, 8-5. TC won twice on their home field, 2-1 (nine innings) and 5-3.
Weatherford swept NCTC, having won 3-0 and 14-3 in Gainesville and 9-3 and 9-0 at WC.
In 44 games, Temple is hitting .406 with an on-base percentage of .477, has hit 46 homers, driven in 354 runs, scored 397 runs, and have a staff earned run average of 2.27.
In 44 games, Weatherford is hitting .340 with an on-base percentage of .408, hit 55 homers, driven home 302 runs, scored 317 times, and have a staff earned run average of 2.16.
The Leopards lead the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference with a 22-2 mark and are 42-6 overall. No. 8 MCC is in second (20-4 NTJCAC, 36-10 overall), and No. 9 Grayson (18-6, 39-8 overall) and No. 20 Weatherford (18-6, 34-10 overall) are tied for third with eight games remaining.
The Leopards and Coyotes will complete their series on Saturday with a doubleheader at the Danny Scott Sports Complex.
