TC Softball wraps Texoma Health Winter Blast 3-1

The Temple College softball team completed their stay at the Texoma Health Winter Blast in Denison on Friday as they took on Eastern Oklahoma State College and Cowley Community College on Friday.

The Leopards did not trail in any point on Friday, as they downed EOSC, 5-3, and D2 No. 18 Cowley, 6-1.

Brooklyn Walton got the Leopards on the board in the top of the second against EOSC with a sacrifice fly that scored KyLeigh Cambiano.

Temple scored an unearned run in the top of the fourth when Lexi Dudeczka hit a grounder that was misplayed to score Cambiano to give the Leopards a 2-0 lead.

The Mountaineers scored on a single in the fourth inning reduce Temple's lead to 2-1.

Walton's inside-the-park to left field scored Maddi Durnell, and Dudeczka's inside-the-park homer to left field in the top of the sixth gave the Leopards a 5-1 lead.

EOSC scored twice in the seventh but couldn't put the tying run across, as Leopards pulled out the two-run victory.

Cabiano had two hits in Temple's nine-hit attack. Walton had three runs batted in.

Dalanee Eckster pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowed two hits, hit a batter, walked one, and struck out one. Reese Cottrell picked up the win in relief, allowed three runs on six hits, struck out three, and walked two.

In the contest against Cowley, Myah Starks singled home Dudeczka to put Temple on the board in the first with two out. Ryley Litchfield's two-run single scored Cambiano and Starks to give the Leopards a 3-0 lead.

Cottrell doubled home Walton in the top of the second increase Temple's lead to four.

Cowley got on the board in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single by Kylie Cartwright.

Marli Kennedy reached on an error in the sixth inning that scored Litchfield, and Cambiano doubled home Jess Reyes in the top of the seventh to round out the scoring.

Cottrell and Cambiano each had two hits in Temple's six-hit outing. Litchfield had two RBI to lead the Leopards.

Izzy Garcia got the start in the circle and picked up the win. Garcia allowed one run on three hits, walked three, hit a batter, and struck out one. Cottrell pitched three innings in relief, allowed one hit, walked two, and struck out one.

Dacey Morris pitched a complete game for Cowley in the loss. She hurled seven innings, allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits, walked four, and struck out one.

The Leopards finished the tournament with a 3-1 record and is 11-3 overall.

TC will host Blinn College in doubleheader action on Tuesday at the Danny Scott Sports Complex.
