TC men’s basketball to take on No. 21 MCC Saturday in Waco

The Temple College men's basketball will hit the road for a highly-anticipated matchup against No. 21 McLennan Community College at The Highlands on the campus of MCC in Waco.

Tip time is slated for 4 pm

The Leopards won a critical road game on Wednesday at Weatherford College, 84-73, on Jan. 21.

MCC had no problems with Hill College in a 91-44 victory on Wednesday at The Highlands.

In their 2025 match ups, MCC swept the Leopards with wins of 82-59 at Kirby Johnson Court and 85-60 in Waco.

Through 21 contests, Temple (12-9 overall, 3-2 NTJCAC) has averaged 89.3 points per game and has allowed 85.3 points.

The Leopards shoot 46.3% from the field, 31% from beyond the arc, and 65.4% at the free-throw line. The Leopards outrebound teams on average, 41.1-32.0, average 17 assists, 11.4 steals (tied for 14th nationally, and four blocks.

Josh Telfort (14.7 ppg),  Jaymes Brown-Peterson (12.8 ppg), Roy Gardner (12 ppg), Harry Bates (11 ppg), and Ovie Agbigbe (8.8 ppg) are the leading scorers for Temple.

Through 20 games, MCC (19-1 overall, 13-0 home, 4-0 NTJCAC) has averaged 83.7 points per game and has allowed 56.1 points. The Highlanders shoot 45.3% from the field, 34.1% beyond the three-point line and convert 71.8% at the free-throw line. The Highlanders average 45.7 rebounds, 16.3 assists, 9.8 steals, and 2.1 blocks per contest.

Joseph Mayberry, III (12.4 ppg), Kenneth Morast (10.9 ppg), Aiden Law (10.7 ppg), and Amare Banks (10.6 ppg) are the leading scorers for the Highlanders.

Following Saturday's game, the Leopards will play at Ranger on Feb. 7.
