The Temple College men's basketball team began their week by hosting the Dallas College – Cedar Valley Suns on Monday night Kirby Johnson Court.
From the tip, the Leopards controlled the tempo and stayed with the game plan as they downed the Suns, 109-82.
Temple (3-1) gradually grew their lead throughout the first half, as they led 11-7 with 15:29 to go in the half. From that point, the Leopards grew the lead to ten points at the second media timeout at 11:45.
A 12-2 run over the next 2:30 grew the Leopards lead to 20. Temple expanded the lead to 22 points before a short Cedar Valley run took the Leopards' advantage down to 16 points with 3:57 to go in the half. The Leopards led the Suns at the halftime break, 48-28.
Temple grew their lead to 30 points with a 25-15 start to the second half with crips shooting.
The Suns battled the keep the margin in the lower 30's with a 17-point burst in the second half by Marcel Hurst. However, the Leopards got top to bottom production from all points of their lineup throughout to secure the 34-point win.
The Leopards shot 16-of-30 from the free throw line and hit six three-pointers. TC had all 14 players score at least a basket and four scored in double figures, led by Harry Bates with 18 points, all scored in the paint. Josh Telfort added 16 points, and Roy Gardner and Jason Ward each scored 15.
Larry Lyons, Jr. led all scorers with 22 points for the Suns, which included a 13-point first half. Hurst scored all 17 of his points in the second half.
Temple will take on No. 24 Kilgore College at Kirby Johnson Court on Wednesday at 6 pm.
