TC Baseball splits Saturday twin-bill with No. 6 MCC, wins series 3-1

The Temple College Leopards traveled to Waco on Saturday in search of a pair of wins against No. 6 McLennan Community College and to keep pace in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference playoff chase.

MCC rallied to take a late lead in the opener but couldn't keep pace with the Leopards in the second game as they teams split the doubleheader.

The Highlanders won game one, 6-4, and the Leopard took the second game, 5-3

The split gave the Leopards the series victory, 3-1, as well as lifted their record to 17-11 in conference play and 34-20 overall. MCC dropped to 19-9 in conference play and 39-10 overall.

MCC took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second as Nathan Tobin's bunt single and subsequent TC error scored Cooper McEnroe to give the Highlanders a 1-0 lead.

Sam Jenkins' RBI double and Brody Chyr's RBI groundout gave MCC a 3-0 lead after three innings.

Wade Stallones' ground out with two outs in the top of the fourth put TC on the board. Kade Davis' double scored Elias Leon-Padilla and Kash Millar tied the game at 3-3.

McEnroe's two—run homer and Abdiel Hernandex Sostre doubled home Tyler Ness to give the Highlanders a 6-3 advantage.

Cameron Bartz scored on a double play in the sixth inning. However, the Leopards could not close the gap.

Peanut Brazzle had two of Temple's six hits and Davis drove in a pair.

Joseph McMurtry took the loss for Temple, having pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowed six runs (fiver earned) on ten hits, struck out five and walked one. Carson Henderson pitched 1 1/3 innings and struck out two.

Brady Quinn had three hits, and Jenkins, McEnroe, and Hernandez Sostre each had two hits.

Logan Harris pitched three innings, allowed three runs on three hits, struck out five, and walked three. Charlie Kinkaid picked up the win in relief, having pitched four innings, allowed one run on three hits, struck out seven and walked one.

Kash Millar singled home Brazzle to put the Leopards on the board in the second inning of game two.

Chyr's single in the third inning scored Quinn to tie the game at 1-1.

Ramon Corona's two-run homer put MCC back on top 3-1 in the fourth.

Hunter Baros and Davis each contributed RBI singles and Brazzle's sacrifice fly scored Stallones in the ninth inning gave the Leopards a 5-3 lead, and TC was able to hold on for the win.

Stallones and Davis each had three hits in Temple's ten-hit output.

Davis pitched five innings, allowed three runs on six hits, struck out five and walked two. Collin Toedter picked up the win in relief, did not allow a hit in four innings, struck out two and walked two.

Six different Highlanders had a hit apiece.

MCC trotted out five pitchers, as they struck out ten batters and walked three, having allowed five runs on ten hits.

The Leopards host Weatherford College on Wednesday at the Danny Scott Sports Complex.
