The Temple College baseball team traveled west to take on the Ranger College Rangers in doubleheader action to continue North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play at Ellis Burks Field in Ranger.
The Leopards' offense roared for double-digit runs in the opener, but was silenced in the second game as the teams gained a split in the doubleheader.
Temple took the first game, 11-6, and Ranger took game two in five innings, 11-1.
The Leopards took a 4-0 lead in the first inning, which was answered with three runs from Ranger in the bottom of the frame. The teams posted a run apiece in the second inning.
The game stayed 5-4 from the middle of the game before the Leopards scored three runs in the sixth and three in the seventh. Ranger scored two in the bottom of the seventh, but unable to close out the five-run deficit.
Temple crushed 12 hits, with Wade Stallones, Kash Millar, Kade Davis, Kanyon Millar, and Elias Leon-Padilla with two hits each. Davis, Leon-Padilla, and Kanyon Millar added homers.
Peyton Reynolds picked up the win on the hill for Temple. He pitched five innings, allowed two earned runs on five hits, struck out four and walked two. Carson Henderson pitched two innings, allowed two runs on three hits, struck out three and walked one.
Jeremiah Torres had two hits, a homer, and three RBI to lead Ranger.
Anthony Kelley took the loss for Ranger. He pitched six innings, allowed six earned runs on nine hits, walked four, and walked two.
Ranger took the late-inning momentum and parlayed it into three runs in the first inning and another three in the second.
Stallones' double set up Kanyon Millar's RBI single in the fourth to account for the lone run of the second game.
Thomas Perez took the loss for Temple.
Torres went 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBI. Caleb Lopez and Brandon Leon added three RBI each.
Stephen Michalsky had the complete game win for Ranger. He pitched five innings, allowed one unearned run on four hits, struck out four, and walked one.
The teams return to action at the Danny Scott Sport Complex on Thursday in doubleheader action beginning at 1 pm.
