The Temple College Leopards resumed North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference on Wednesday as they hosted Cisco College at the Danny Scott Sports Complex.
The Leopards had to come from behind twice in the doubleheader, but could not get the equalizer in either as the Wranglers swept the twin-bill.
The scores were 3-2 and 2-1.
An RBI double by Willie Cornejo-Farmer and RBI single by Xander Forsell off Temple starting pitcher Peyton Reynolds gave the Wranglers a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Kash Millar's double in the bottom of the sixth inning scored Cameron Bartz to cut Temple's margin to one run.
Lando Belcher's RBI single to left field in the top of the seventh proved to be much-needed insurance for Cisco, as they held a two-run lead heading into the back half of the seventh.
Kanyon Millar and Hunter Baros walked to start the bottom of the inning. Easton Rinewalt reached base on a sacrifice bunt to load the bases with no outs.
Louis Hertling struck out Brody Cole before forcing Sage Sanders to ground out and push across Kanyon Millar to push the margin to one run. Wade Stallones was hit by a pitch to reload the bases with two outs. Hertling struck out Kash Millar to end the game.
Kash Millar and Kade Davis picked up Temple's lone two hits of the game.
Reynolds pitched five innings, allowed two runs on six hits, struck out eight, hit a batter, and walked one. Aden Redlich pitched two innings, allowed a run on two hits, struck out two, and walked one.
Jax Legrand had two of Cisco's eight hits in the contest.
Luke Holt pitched six innings, allowed one unearned run on two hits and struck out four. Parker McGrael faced two batters and walked both. Hertling pitched one inning and struck out two to pick up the save.
In game two, the tilt was scoreless until the top of the fourth. Forsell hit a 2-1 offering from Thomas Perez over the right-centerfield wall to give Cisco (22-6, 8-6 NTJCAC) a 1-0 lead.
Temple (20-13, 6-4 NTJCAC) answered in the fifth inning as Davis' single scored Yarel Delgado to tie the game.
In the top of the ninth, the Wranglers had the bases loaded with one out. Blaine Lucas hit a ground ball to Baros at second base. Baros tagged second base and fired a throw to first. The first base umpire ruled that Lucas was safe at the bag as Legrand crossed to plate to put Cisco up 2-1.
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Delgado and Kash Millar singles gave Temple runners at the corners. Davis hit a grounder up the middle that Legrand fielded and stepped on second to end the game.
Kash Millar picked up two of Temple's seven hits in the game.
Thomas Perez pitched seven strong innings, allowed one run on two hits, struck out five, and walked one. Carson Henderson pitched the final two innings, allowed a run on two hits, struck out four, and walked one.
Four pitchers combined to scatter seven hits, strike out ten, walk four, and hit one batter.
The Leopards will travel Saturday to conclude the series at Cisco with a doubleheader.
