The Temple College Leopards baseball team began the bye week of their 2026 North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference schedule as they hosted Dallas College North Lake in a Wednesday afternoon doubleheader at the Danny Scott Sports Complex.
The Leopards had to fight off a pair of late-inning rallies by the Blazers to secure a pair of wins.
Scores of the twin bill were 9-5 and 4-3.
Temple (17-13) started the scoring with a four-pack in the second inning. Kanyon Millar and Elias Leon-Padilla singled to start the inning. Sage Sanders lined out to Ruben Sosa at first base and doubled off Leon-Padilla for the double play. With two outs, Easton Rinewalt singled home Millar and stole two bases. Brody Cole singled home Rinewalt, Wade Stallones singled in Cole, and Yarel Delgado singled in Stallones.
With one out in the third, Leon-Padilla walked. On the next pitch, Sanders drilled a pitch over the right field fence for a two-run homer to increase Temple's lead to 6-0.
The Leopards added two more in the fourth as Kade Davis had an RBI triple and scored on Millar's sacrifice fly. Temple loaded the bases with two outs and had a chance to push the game into run-rune territory but could not score to keep the score at 8-0.
The Blazers responded with five runs in the top of the fifth. Bases loaded walks to Salvador DeLaGarza and Ivan Rodriguez were followed by a bases-clearing double by Jesse Orozco to bring North Lake to within three runs, 8-5.
After the Blazers put runners on a second and third with no one out, the Leopards got a pair of Carson Henderson strikeouts and a flyout to Stallones in center field to end the threat.
Leon-Padilla's solo homer over the right field fence gave the Leopards an insurance run.
Temple had 14 hits in the opener. Leon-Padilla had three hits and scored twice, Stallones, Sander, Sanders, and Cole each had two hits.
Peyton Reynolds pitched four innings in the start and picked up the win. Landon Miller, Aden Redlich, and Carson Henderson pitched in relief for Temple.
Orozco and Jackson Franks each had two hits for the Blazers totaled seven for the game.
Brandon Kirtley, the reigning Dallas Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, took the loss for North Lake.
The Blazers hopped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first in the second game. Rodriguez's single was followed by an RBI double by Orozco.
Temple quickly took back the lead in the bottom of the first, as Kash Millar doubled with one out and Davis hit a massive blast over the right field fence for a two-run homer.
The Leopards posted a run in the bottom of the third, as Kash Millar walked to start the inning and Sanders singled him home with two outs.
Kanyon Millar's lined single to right field with two outs in the fifth scored Davis, as the Leopards stretched their lead to three, 4-1.
Down by three in the top of the seventh with one out, reliever Quentin Medrano found trouble, as Cyler Moore walked, Brayden McCallum had a pinch-hit single and was run for by Aiden Huante, and Ty Diaz walked to load the bases. A bases-loaded walk and fielder's choice pushed across two runs and gave the Blazers runners at first and third. Braylen Veazey struck out Orozco looking to slam the door and give the Leopards the sweep.
Temple had six hits in the game from six different hitters. Sanders' single came on the 11th pitch of the at-bat, having fought back from an 0-2 count by fouling off seven of the next eight pitches.
Thomas Perez picked up the win having tossed a four-hitter over five innings. Medrano pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed two runs, and Veazey forced the fielder's choice and a strikeout to end the game.
The Blazers collected six hits, with Rodriguez having two for North Lake.
The Leopards will host DFW Post Grad on Friday afternoon in a doubleheader at the Danny Scott Sports Complex, beginning at 1 pm. Temple will travel to Alvin Community College for a nine-inning game on Monday.
