Early offensive burst leads TC Baseball to win over Alvin

Early offensive burst leads TC Baseball to win over Alvin

The Temple College Leopards baseball team hosted the Alvin Community College Dolphins in single-game action on Tuesday afternoon at the Danny Scott Sports Complex.

Kade Davis went 3-of-4 with four runs batted in, and Peyton Reynolds and Thomas Perez scattered seven hits over seven innings as the Leopards scored multiple runs in the second, fifth, and sixth innings on their way to a seven-inning victory over the Dolphins, 11-1.

Reynolds started the TC day on the hill with a 1-2-3 first inning.

The Leopards scored their opening run in the bottom of the first. Wade Stallones walked, stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on Kash Millar's flyout.

Kash Millar and Chase Fricke teamed up on a double play in the top of the second, which set the Leopards up for a big bottom of the frame.

Kanyon Millar walked, Elias Leon-Padilla singled Kanyon Millar to second. Following a sacrifice bunt by Sage Sanders, Hunter Baros' double scored Kanyon Millar and Leon-Padilla. Stallones walked, Kash Millar's single scored Baros, and Davis tripled home Stallones and Kash Millar to increase Temple's lead to 6-0.

While Temple's pitching kept Alvin's offense in check, the Leopards posted two more runs in the fifth. Davis walked, Fricke was hit by a pitch, and Kanyon Millar walked to load the bases. Leon-Padilla's fielder's choice to second base scored Davis, and Fricke scored on a wild pitch during Baros' at-bat to increase Temple's lead to eight.

Alvin picked up their lone run in the game on an RBI double by Justin Garcia Hernandez with two outs in the top of the sixth.

Temple's final salvo came in the top of the sixth. Following back-to-back walks to Yarel Delgado and Stallones and a bunt single by Kash Millar, Davis drilled a two-run single to right field and Fricke nailed an RBI single to centerfield.

Temple (8-7) picked up eight hits and walked ten times over six innings. Davis, Kash Millar, and Baros each had multi-RBI performances. Stallones walked four times and scored three runs.

Reynolds pitched six innings for the victory. He allowed one run on five hits, walked two and struck out two. Perez pitched an inning of relief, allowed two hits and struck out one.

The Leopards head to West Texas for a three-game weekend swing. On Friday, the Leopards will take on No. 3 Midland College (13-0) at 3 pm. On Saturday, Temple takes on Odessa College (8-5).
